From the report ‘An Untold Story,’ it is evident that being a man in the art world is more advantageous. Men in the art sector earn a staggering 50% more than women. Additionally, it has become clear that art academies primarily use male artists as examples when teaching, leading to a significant underrepresentation of women in museums.
Team Hagens developed a free publicity driven PR campaign with the goal of initiating a conversation about inequality in the art sector. Using the report and research, we contacted Dutch media, with success! We secured a front-page article in Parool and free publicity publications in news- and lifestyle media such as NRC, LINDA., BNR, NPO Radio 1 Journaal. As the cherry on top, State Secretary Uslu made a special request for the report to ABN AMRO and Women Inc. and expressed the desire to stay informed.
We are extremely pleased that we have obtained this award with such an impactful and socially driven PR campaign. However, creating equal opportunities does not happen overnight. ABN AMRO is using their influence for good in collaborations and partnerships. Together with partner museums, they will continue to work towards increased visibility and equal opportunities for female artists in the upcoming contract period.
Many thanks to ABN AMRO Bank N.V. and WOMEN Inc!
